Mustang Challenge Races

March 14 & 15
Homestead Miami Speedway
KONI Challenge / Ford Racing Mustang Challenge

Seven members of GSMC enjoyed a day at Homestead- Miami Speedway. They had the opportunity to tour the garages (several were able to spend some time with Mustang Hall of Fame member jack Roush), enjoy making a parade lap on Homestead's 2.3 mile road course.

Seeing Mustangs race side by side in the style of Trans-Am Racing was a thrill.

CHILI COOKOFF

Gulfshore Mustang Club’s 1st Chili Cookoff

John Stephenson’s Don't Be Chicken Chili took top honors at GSMC first ever Chili Cookoff. Coming in second was Buzzard’s Breath Chili cooked up by Jim Wilson and third place was garnered by Diane Giancarlo’s White Corn Chili. They were awarded Chili Pot trophies for their talents. Mike Langston, Bob Ryan, Marcy Smith, Ken Oehler and Dean Hillestad also cooked up pots for all to enjoy. All contestants received beautiful certificates designed by Jeanette Baldwin.  Congratulations and thanks to all.

The cookoff was judged by South Trail Fire Department firefighters including Chief Bill Lombardo, Commissioner Jay Anderson and Christie Knudsen Public Education Specialist. After the diligent job of judging, the firefighters and GSMC members enjoyed 8 different types of chili and fixings. Minette Langston baked a Decadent Fudge Cake and cookies to “cool” things down after the hot stuff. After a brief meeting we received a great training session on garage and car fire safety from Christie Knudsen. Then the firefighters gave us a demonstration on how to use fire extinguishers. Several GSMC members took turns on using extinguishers to put out fires.October is National Fire Prevention Month – look around and see what you might do to prevent a fire.A special thank you everyone at South Trail Fire Department.

We Are Appreciated

Gulfshore Mustangers  have received the nicest Thank You card from Big Brothers Big Sisters - thanking us for all we have done for their organization and for Justyn. It was signed by everyone in the office with their personal comments.

You should be proud. I know I'm proud of your club.

John P. Danius, Richard Hayman and Dean Hillestad escorted Justyn and his mother to the airport on August 13th. He and his "Big" Dave Moll will be coming to a future GSMC event to share his experiences in Monterey.

GSMC has raised over $600.00 for BBBS this year and has helped spread awareness of them through our endeavours. THANKS!

Minette has sent Thank You letters to all companies that have assisted us in the car wash and  goody bags to show our appreciation.
